How Your Stories Can Keep You From Getting Great Results

The only reason we don't get what we want in life is because of the story we keep repeating to ourselves about the reason we don't have it.
Every time we stop believing the story and make a decision, we
become stronger.
A long time ago, I remember this business idea I had. I kept nurturing it in my mind and didn't bother sharing it with anyone for fear of idea larceny.
Every day, I'd find a reason not to launch out with the idea, until one day I had ENOUGH and told myself that I was just a crackpot.

It created a breakthrough and the following week, I invited a team of partners. We scrutinized the idea and set it in motion.
Take inventory of your own stories.
Any stories that don't serve you should be killed without hesitation.
A story is simply an excuse or something you repeat to yourself all the time about why you're not producing a certain result.

We all have stories. The key is to be aware of them and to not believe them.
Choose the winner's story. Choose the bounce-back story. Choose the self-made man/woman story.

Think of your life as a Nollywood or even a Hollywood movie script. You're the one writing the script.
You choose the character and the time of the story you want to write.
Will that be a drama or an epic adventure?
Your choice.
Have an amazing day!

Ignite Your Creativity

Your life is like an ongoing work of art. The canvas of your life begins with your family; and your experiences, setbacks, and triumphs play a part in forming who you become. And as long as you live, your life will continue to be a form of artistic creation. Creativity is often narrowly defined by creative works, such as books, paintings, and music. But creativity encompasses so much more than the works we create. Living a creative life also involves the thought, energy, and time we devote to problem-solving and creating the life we’ve been given to live. So stop delineating creativity only along aesthetic lines. Get out of your comfort zone and find solution to problems. Reflect on ways of adding value to human existence. Stop complaining about issues and start innovating. Develop new ideas. Implement new processes. Devise new methods of doing things or making things work. When you get stuck, get out of your work space and go for a walk. Leverage synergy where practicable. Your crea...

One Word That Can Change Your Life...Starting Now!

There's a well-known saying by Mike Tyson, "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face." This is when reality sinks in and you have to deal with the present situation you find yourself. There's a word that can transform your life no matter the drama that seems to characterize your existence, if you wholeheartedly embrace its meaning. That word is DETERMINATION. There's nothing more powerful than a determined person. Determination here implies firmness of purpose or the tendency to move in a certain direction. The determined individual always ends up getting what he wants from life. Here's your 5-step plan to be determined: Choose only a few important goals and stick to them. Cultivate the habit of writing your goals...say daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc Stop being idle or busy doing the wrong thing. Welcome each day with renewed effort to unleash your potentials and pursue your dreams. Walk straight with your head u...

Focus On The First Step

If you ask me if success in life is easy to come by, I'll simply tell you the obvious: NO! But if you focus on the first step of whatever you want to achieve, the most difficult part would have been taken care of. Here is an interesting story to buttress my point. One day, I was at a camp meeting and I met this aspiring writer. I asked him how his book was coming along. "I didn't really getting started… I'm not sure my stuff will be good enough…" He was so insecure about his writing that he didn't even START writing anything. It's hard to become good at something you don't practice. I just explained to him that what really matters is taking the first step. The first step is really all that matters. If you can be the man or woman who always takes the first step, you become a force of nature. That's a really counter-intuitive secret to success. Every success I've had in my life was created because I took this first step. ...
