How To Save Yourself From Useless Rules


From the day you are born, you are surrounded by rules. They manifest themselves through statements, like "should", "must", "never", and "always".

Some of these rules exist to protect you. For example, never drive drunk and always respect one another.

Unfortunately, other rules are unnecessary or irrelevant. Rules like, you should always "keep your thoughts to yourself", and you should get a higher education and get a good job.

We are fed these rules through parents, the school system, and mainstream media.
When you reach 25 for instance, you've been conditioned for 25 years. Some people are in their 40s and don't even realize they are still living their life based on old rules.

They stay at jobs they don't like, and believe they can't quit to start their own business.
Fortunately, the brain is plastic. I don't mean that the brain is made of plastic… Neuroplasticity or brain plasticity - refers to the brain's ability to CHANGE throughout life. The human brain has the amazing ability to reorganize itself by forming new connections between brain cells (neurons).

Start listing the things in your life that you hate and ask yourself if you are operating on old rules.
You might be surprised by what you discover.
